In a new blog post, Bohemia Interactive has released the DayZ 2023 roadmap content outline, revealing that it is looking to expand the DayZ IP. The developer will focus on adding new cosmetics with every update, and plans to make significant changes to infected AI and the NWAF (north-west airfield) region on Chernarus. Fewer firearms will be added this year, with resources diverted instead to adjustments, quality-of-life changes, and empowering server owners with additional tools.

DayZ 2023 Roadmap Outline:
The tl;dr version:
- Support for throughout 2023 confirmed
- Character cosmetics will play a huge role in “every update” this year
- northwest airfield (NWAF) on Chernarus will be updated this year
- Infected AI will be changed
- New additional challenges will be offered later this year
For more on the what’s discussed, head on below.
While Bohemia Interactive will “definitely be supporting the game throughout 2023,” content updates will be much more dynamic in nature owing to the developer exploring greater opportunities for both the game and the DayZ IP. Character cosmetics will be a major highlight of every DayZ update in 2023, with increased loot variety and diverse accessory options such as backpacks and full themed outfits.
Major adjustments will be made to the NWAF on Chernarus to streamline the airfield’s layout and make the runway and taxiways “more authentic,” necessitating a total server wipe. Meanwhile, infected AI will be reworked to change the enemies’ movement patterns as well as player combat strategies, though the exact direction will be decided pending further investigation.
Following the addition of Steam achievements to the game last year, additional challenges will be added to the game over the course of 2023. Additional firearms will be less of a focus as the developer believes the current selection is adequate. Instead, as with the 1.20 update, a number of quality-of-life changes will be rolling out throughout the year, and server owners will be facilitated with additional tools with the idea of making it easier to manage DayZ communities on consoles.
DayZ is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
