DayZ Hits All-Time-High Player Numbers Six Years After Release Hitting Over 500K Daily Players
Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? While DayZ was released way back in 2018, the survival game has now managed to hit its new all-time-high in terms of player counts with the release of the new Frostline expansion.
In a press release, Bohemia Interactive has announced that not only has Frostline sold over 300,000 units during its opening week, but DayZ has breached the 500,000-player mark peaking at 501,522 daily active users. Curious how that number is spread out? Bohemia even shared that as well, which is rare to see from a studio.

- PlayStation – 113,897
- Xbox – 152,037
Added info by Bohemia, October 20 was the busiest day so far, with the all-time active player count of 501,522 reached that day. On that same day, all-time high numbers in terms of concurrent player counts were reached as well with the breakdown available below.

- Xbox – 36,000
This is insanely impressive news, as not only is DayZ considered “old” by today’s gaming standards, but this means that gamers are still playing the game even with a ton of alternatives and competition available. In a time where developers are having issues keeping gamers interested in their live service offerings, Bohemia seems to have found success which is comforting to see.

This is your Story
DayZ is a hardcore survival game where players must strive to endure a post-apocalyptic world populated by frenzied infected and other survivors. DayZ includes the original Chernarus terrain, and the Livonia terrain.
Meet Others
Up to 60 players are struggling to survive by any means necessary at any given time. Make friends, kill on sight, build a base, or risk being betrayed over a can of tasty beans. Survive Chernarus
The infected aren’t the only ones you need to worry about – there’s also the wildlife and elements. You’ll also need to master complex survival mechanics concerning your hunger, thirst, body temperature, and more.
Loot Up
Always make sure your gear is ready. Patch up damaged clothes, craft improvised items, and head out to deceptively dead cities to scavenge for valuable resources. Fix a car and hide it in your secret base under a cover of well-placed traps. Step into contaminated zones if you dare and keep your eyes peeled for precious loot. Don’t forget that you won’t get far without a full hazard suit and gas mask.
Take your Shot
Intense PvP action can break out anywhere at any time, especially in hotspots like abandoned military bases, where heart-pounding firefights are all the rage. Some survivors want your loot, others are simply hunting for sport. Then there are those who are afraid you’ll shoot first. Learn how to fight and know when the time has come to swallow your pride and flee. One bullet can change absolutely everything. Always watch your back.
Install Mods
Head on over to the Steam Workshop and find a customized server that fits. Join an active community of like-minded players and modify your DayZ experience to suit your taste. Browse thousands of fan-made features, maps, and guns – all of which are easily managed directly from the game launcher.
