Bungie and NetEase have officially announced a brand-new mobile game in the Destiny universe—Destiny: Rising. They announced the game today, promising to bring the thrilling shooter experience of consoles and PCs to mobile devices. Set in an alternate timeline of Destiny, Destiny: Rising will explore the post-Dark Ages, a key moment in the lore of the Destiny universe.

The game will be free-to-play and offer a mix of co-op, competitive, and solo modes in a shared world. Bungie has confirmed that Destiny: Rising will feature a unique approach to playable heroes. Unlike the customizable characters we’ve seen in previous Destiny games, this mobile title will introduce pre-made heroes with distinct abilities.

Another notable feature is the ability to choose between first-person and third-person views, which isn’t something you see often in mobile games. The game will also include a variety of modes, such as campaign missions, six-player co-op strikes, and both PvP and PvE options. These additions aim to enhance replayability while still delivering the classic Destiny feel.

While Bungie and NetEase have yet to confirm an official release date or platform details, they have released a trailer on YouTube that shows off some of the game’s features and interviews with the development team. If you’re excited to try it out early, you can sign up for the closed alpha, which starts in November.
