Diablo 4 Game Share for Early Access Issues – How to Fix and Play

Diablo 4 Game Share

For who bought Diablo 4 Deluxe/Ultimate editions that included early access, some of you might be having issues accessing the game with most people seeing an invalid license message surfacing. It seems a lot of these issues are stemming from Diablo 4 game sharing on PlayStation devices (PS4, PS5), but thankfully, there seems to be a workaround.

Diablo 4 Game Share for Early Access Issues and How to Fix:

First, the bad news: Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed that those who aren’t using the main account that purchased the Deluxe and Ultimate editions are locked out.

Here’s the statement by Blizzard’s Community Manager regarding the situation:

Users who purchase a Deluxe/Ultimate Edition on an account should use that same account to host couch co-op sessions during the Early Access period. This ensures the guest player can join and participate in co-op.

Accounts that weren’t the original purchaser of Deluxe/Ultimate Edition of the game on that console will not be able to play in Early Access unless they join as a second player with the account that made the original purchase.

There is a fix for this so that you’ll be able to play though it might not be ideal for a lot of people. Here’s a step-by-step guide via iamnobody (Editor’s Note: Instructions were edited for clarity and grammar):

Step 1:
Make sure both the account that purchased the game, and the account you’re trying to share with are on the same console

Step 2:
Start Diablo 4 on account that purchased the pre order

Step 3:
If a character has already been made, you must create a new character on an account that has purchased the game, at this point before starting, turn on the second controller and sign into the account you want to game share with (you should get a message stating Player 2 can join once player one starts the game)

Step 4:
Once new game has started on account that purchased the game, join in as Player 2 on the second controller

Step 5:
Leave game on controller Player 1 was signed into, and bam! It lets you stay!

That’s about it. While not ideal (and quite scummy of Activision-Blizzard for even doing this), that seems to be the only thing working for most right now.

Will I Be Able to Play Diablo 4 Game Share on June 6?

This is the main question everyone is wondering right now, and the short answer is: maybe (?).

Chances are you should be able to given there hasn’t been an instance of game sharing not working for any game, but this is Activision and Blizzard after all. Take comfort that game sharing worked for beta participants, so chances are very high that will be a non-issue once June 6 rolls around.

If you find another solution to this, leave a comment below and let us know.

Or Blizzard you can stop lying to you customers who spent 80 to 100 dollars to play the game early and faking a down server issue and be honest and let people know on console More specifically on Playstation 5 that you will be locked out of the log in unless you purchase $1.99 on the in game currency and you can play.

Cause I waited for 3 hours after 7pm with your fake we’re working on fixing the issue trying to login and nothing after countless times trying to login the game by 9pm I finally thought well what if I purchased one of your in game micro transactions and I did and to my discust and amazement on the first login try I got into the game with your fake message still up in the main menu so no you weren’t fixing anything because there was nothing wrong with the Diablo IV servers

Youre not very smart are you LOL. psn crashed cause of diablo 4. It was a psn issue. If you downloaded a free random game you could also get into diablo 4 servers cause buying a (free) game refreshes your licenses. Omg people these days LOL

Hey Now 1.99 to be able to play I didn’t really care to much because I have it and all I care about is being able to play I just wish I knew I had to buy in game currency in order to actually play before trying and failing to get my Diablo IV to actually login. Do what you want it’s your game and your company but do not lie to your customers trying to log in the game you could have sent out a disclaimer a hour before release saying hey we understand a lot of you whom purchased the game may want to get in and play but we’d like you to at least spend $1.99 at least once on the in game currency to play.

Just be patient, the error notification that says it can’t verify the license for Diablo 4 means that either the servers aren’t available in your region yet or their overloaded because of to many long in attempts. I’ve been playing just fine for a few hours, i had the error as well and i didn’t purchase any additional content. Diablo 4 is one of the most highly anticipated games of 2023 and it’s peak hours “you seriously didn’t expect to just log in” and be all willy-nilly.
