Diablo 4 Microtransactions “Anchored Around” Optional Cosmetic Items & Expansions, Couch Co-Op Confirmed

For those playing Diablo Immortal and a bit scared that Diablo 4 will go the same route when it comes to microtransactions, it seems there’s nothing to worry about, as the Diablo 4 microtransactions will be built around optional cosmetic items and story driven expansions.

This was revealed by General Manager of the Diablo franchise Rod Fergusson over on Twitter today in answering a question about the possibility of the game having a “mobile-style” monetization program:

To be clear, D4 is a full price game built for PC/PS/Xbox audiences. We are committed to delivering an incredible breadth of content after launch, for years to come, anchored around optional cosmetic items & full story driven expansions. More details soon. Necro blog tomorrow!

This is definitely good news, and confirms that people cannot pay their way to progress their characters, and will instead have to, y’know, actually play and grind. In case you didn’t know, a YouTuber has calculated that it will cost $100,000 (yes, that’s a lot of zeroes) to fully gear up in Diablo Immortal.

In answering another fan, Fergusson confirmed that couch co-op (or also known as local co-op) will be possible (just like in Diablo 3)!

These are some good news for Diablo 4, which the franchise needs right now. In case you didn’t know, Blizzard is pushing out an info blowout on the Necromancer class tomorrow, and once we have info on that, we’ll be sure to share it here on MP1st.

Diablo 4 will be released on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2023.
