DICE: Battlefield 2042 Squad Kick & Ban Options Not Going to Be Implemented Since It Doesn’t Promote “Healthy PTFO Behavior”

Battlefield 2042 squad kick

While DICE has already given us a preview of the Battlefield 2042 squad management and squad order changes and additions incoming in Season 5, don’t expect a way to kick and ban players from joining squads to be implemented soon — or ever.

This has seemingly been confirmed by Battlefield Community Manager Tom Stratford who comments that the studio isn’t implementing it since it’s not “healthy PTFO (Play the Fucking Objective) behavior.”

I know it has since already been covered. But to confirm, there will be no kick/ban option. Instead, there is a reservation system that allows friends to join your squad for a short period if you create one to ensure you can play together. I understand some folks want kick/ban, but for Battlefield 2042 we feel it does not promote healthy PTFO behavior if you just kick or ban folks from your squad instead of (trying to) help each other out. In cases where folks are simply not cooperating, then you can still make use of the reservation system to make a new squad.

With that said, the aforementioned frame is a UI elemental that’s available in Battlefield Portal, but due to a bug it briefly showed up in the video. 1/60th of second, to be exact, and that’s why we missed it originally. Sorry for that, it was unintentional and not helpful for you, or the message we were trying to send at that time.

For reference, the video mentioned by Stratford is this one:

As you can see from Stratford’s reply, the BF2042 squad kick and ban feature can be implemented if DICE wants to, but it doesn’t seem like it’s in the cards anytime soon.

While DICE might have a point, it also makes sense to include this feature in the game rather than have a group of friends all leave a squad, start a new one, and then have each one join (all in-game) just to play together in a full squad is just a whole lot more convoluted, no?

Do you think implementing a kick/ban feature for squads in the game will encourage bad behavior? Or is it OK given that players are just being kicked from squads and not from actual matches?

Thanks, MegaPekka12!

I’d be okay with the “No kick/ban” thing, if they can have a setting that the Squad Leader can change between Private/Public, with the Private setting only allowing friends to join. Remains to be seen if this Reservation system actually works… not holding out much hope given their track record.
