Dragon Ball FighterZ Is Free on Xbox One and Xbox Series X Thanks to a Workaround
Dragon Ball FighterZ was released nearly a decade ago, in 2018, on last-gen consoles. However, the game received a new lease on life when it was ported to current-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) in 2024.
If you’ve yet to play the fighting game made by ARC System Works, you’re in luck — if you’re gaming on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, that is.
While many big games go for free on PC through platforms like Steam and Epic, this is a very rare opportunity for Xbox fans to grab a game for free. So if you own an Xbox, don’t miss out and grab it as quickly as possible.
$60 Dragon Ball FighterZ Now Free on Xbox One & Series X|S

Xbox gamers will be glad to know that Dragon Ball FighterZ is currently free to grab on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S. To do so, players need to download the Xbox One version, which can be done via the Free Play Days Promotion, even on the Series X and S.
For those confused on how to download it since it appears as full-priced on the Xbox Store, here’s a quick step-by-step guide:
- Go to the Xbox Store’s “Free Days” section > Scroll down to the “In this bundle” section and download the Xbox One version,
- The Xbox One version of the game will have a free option to upgrade to the Xbox Series X|S version, which players can redeem
You do NOT need an active Xbox Game Pass subscription to avail of this freebie (thanks,Olio – Yvan_Dureve!).
Though ARC System Works or publisher Bandai Namco have not made any official announcement regarding the free version of the game, we are keeping an eye on it and will update as we get more information. In the meantime, players can still grab it, but bear in mind given this isn’t an official freebie, the free claim may be revoked if this is a glitch or a mistake on Xbox’s end.
While the game was released years ago, Bandai Namco is still supporting the fighting game with balance updates and even DLC. Just last week, the publisher pushed out a new DLC pack that added Goku SS4 Daima into the game.
