Final Fantasy 16 Won’t Have a Day One Patch

Final Fantasy 16 day one update

In today’s gaming landscape, almost all major releases have a day one update that gamers need to download regardless if it’s a multiplayer game or not. Well, thankfully, that won’t have to be the case for Final Fantasy 16! Square Enix has confirmed that there will be no FF16 day one update!

This was confirmed by Director Hiroshi Takai who mentioned that his team is confident in the game’s final build. The second reason is that he and Producer Naoki Yoshida believe the game should be ready to go at launch, and recognizes that not everyone has access to internet needed to download a day one patch.

Of course, with FF16 hitting gold status two months ago, it reaffirms the studio’s statement that developing the game is finished.

Mind, this doesn’t mean we won’t be getting a patch for the game post-launch, since there might be bugs that crop up along the game’s timeline. But the fact that there’s no gargantuan file that needs to be downloaded and installed before you can play a game is a big relief.

Final Fantasy 16 will be released on June 22 exclusively on the PS5.
