Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Will End Its Story in the Main Game, Any DLC Will Only Be a Spin-Off
Final Fantasy 7 director Naoki Hamaguchi loves giving interviews and talking about the series.
In his latest interview, he made it clear that players will not need to buy or play any future DLC to see the full ending of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation.
Speaking to Automaton-Media, Naoki Hamaguchi explained that the story will be fully completed in the main game.
Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s Ending Won’t Be Locked Behind DLC
“The story will be concluded within the main game,” he said. “We’re serious about concluding the series with FF7 Revelation, and we’re proceeding with development with that goal in mind.”
If Square Enix decides to release DLC after launch, Hamaguchi said it would focus on individual characters or new side stories instead of continuing the main plot.
He added, “If we were to hypothetically release any DLC, we would likely want to create a kind of spin-off focused on a specific character that depicts their untold stories, kind of like what we did with Yuffie with FF7R EPISODE INTERmission.”
Hamaguchi also stressed that any DLC is only a possibility for now and has not been confirmed. “I feel that, at this point, both the media and the fan community are expecting a DLC to come. Plus, I sense immense expectations for the FFVII franchise, or rather, it feels like fans don’t want it to end yet.”
He concluded by saying, “That being said, things haven’t crystallized yet, so we can’t certainly say “Okay, we’re going to make DLC for FF7 Revelation.” However, if we get the support from fans, and if there’s genuine demand for it, I think we’d want to consider it.”
Although Hamaguchi has spoken about possible DLC several times, many of those comments came in response to interview questions.
While Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth did not receive story DLC, his recent comments suggest that the team is open to creating DLC in the future, although nothing has been confirmed yet. As more information becomes available, we’ll be sure to keep you updated here at MP1st.
