The Manderville Gold Saucer

The following additions have been made to Triple Triad:

The restriction on the number of one to three star cards in a deck has been removed, regardless of the number of cards you have registered.
Please note this change does not affect the restrictions on four and five star cards.
Time restrictions for Triple Triad have been changed from 30 seconds per turn to 90 seconds for the entirety of a match.
At the start of a match, each player is allotted a total of 90 seconds to deliberate their actions, with an additional 5 seconds added to their timers at the beginning of each turn. Note, however, that no portion of this 5 second grace period can be carried over to another turn.

Should the 90 second timer run down completely, you will only have the aforementioned five-second window to make each remaining move─failure to do so resulting in a card being chosen and placed for you.

The advanced rule “Draft” has been added.
When the “Draft” rule is in effect, participants will not have access to their individual decks and must instead play using cards provided by the Gold Saucer.

Building a Deck

Three sets of randomly generated cards will be displayed before the match begins. Participants must choose one option from each set to build their deck, which will then be locked in for the duration of the competition. The Recommended button may be pressed instead to automatically choose the strongest cards available.

New tournaments have been added.
The Gold Saucer now plays host to two new tournament formats─Open tournaments and Invitational tournaments. Allowing up to eight players and requiring no MGP for admission, these tournaments consist of three matches, making for a quick and easy way to enjoy Triple Triad with friends (or bitter rivals).

Requirements

After completing the quest “Triple Triad Trial,” speak with the Open tournament official in the Gold Saucer (X:4.5 Y:7.4) to unlock these new tournament modes.

Sizing Up Your Opponent

During a tournament, players can now confirm their opponents’ number of wins and losses. Moreover, players on the PlayStation®4 can view their opponents’ PSN ID.

Withdrawing from Tournaments

In the event a player logs out during a match, cards will be played automatically on their turn at the end of the 5 second grace period.
* Matches will be forfeit in the event you are offline when they begin.

Open Tournaments

These tournaments are periodically held events employing the new “Draft” ruleset. Players will use a single deck and participate in three matches.

Participating

Speak with the Open tournament official in the Gold Saucer to register for the next available competition. The tournament will begin when 8 participants have been assembled or once the requisite amount of time has elapsed since the registration period began. If there are fewer than 8 participants available, NPCs will sit in for any missing players. Please note that you cannot be joined in a party when registering to compete.

Rewards

MGP, Triple Triad cards, and other prizes will be awarded at the end of a tournament, with final rankings and win rate determining the reward amount.

Invitational Tournaments

These tournaments follow the same basic structure as Open tournaments, with the main difference being that there are no rewards on offer. Participants may also register at any time as either a solo player or as a party. When registering as a party, the party leader can freely choose a tournament rule set.

Participating

Players can register to enter the Triple Triad Invitational Parlor and participate in these tournaments at any time via the Duty Finder. In the case that a player registers solo, or a party has less than 8 members, the missing numbers will be made up by Triple Triad regulars or Gold Saucer employees.

Rewards

There are no rewards on offer for this tournament format.

The Triple Triad card list has been revamped.
All Triple Triad cards have been allotted a number, and a card filter has been added to the card list. Moreover, players can now confirm which cards they have yet to register, and the methods for obtaining them will be shown as they progress through the game.
The layout of the Edit Deck window has been adjusted, and an option to set filters and customize sorting has been added.
Using these new options, players can sort cards by rarity, type, or the four values in each of their corners.
Tables will no longer appear between players during Triple Triad matches in public areas.
Following this adjustment, player minions can now be seen even during Triple Triad matches.
New cards have been added.
New NPC opponents for Triple Triad have been added.

The following additions and adjustments have been made to Doman Mahjong:

Quick matches have been added.
In a full match, a round consists of eight hands, during which time the role of dealer passes around the board twice. The player with the highest score at the end of the round is declared the winner. In a quick match, however, only four hands are played.

Following the addition of this new match type, the title of Mahjong entries in the Duty Finder have been adjusted as follows:

  • Novice Mahjong (Full Ranked Match)
  • Advanced Mahjong (Full Ranked Match)
  • Four-player Mahjong (Full Match, Kuitan Enabled)
  • Four-player Mahjong (Full Match, Kuitan Disabled)
  • Novice Mahjong (Quick Ranked Match)
  • Advanced Mahjong (Quick Ranked Match)
  • Four-player Mahjong (Quick Match, Kuitan Enabled)
  • Four-player Mahjong (Quick Match, Kuitan Disabled)

Please note that ranking and rate are shared between full and quick match types.

An option to adjust the display of the dora indicator has been added.
From the main menu, select Gold Saucer, then under the Mahjong tab select Settings to access this option.
  • Doman Mahjong
The dora indicator is the same as the tile that applies the dora bonus.
  • Traditional
The dora indicator is the tile below that which applies the dora bonus.
To better distinguish between Noten and Tenpai in the event of a draw, they will now be displayed in different colors.
The discard pile now indicates whether a tile was discarded immediately after it was drawn or not.

Regarding Materia Sockets of Belts and Accessories from Matoya’s Relict and Eden’s Promise

Due to an error in item specifications, belts and accessories obtained from the duties mentioned above have two materia sockets.

These gear pieces were originally intended to have only one materia socket each. However, this error was not discovered until immediately before Patch 5.4’s release, leaving us no time to address the issue.
Because of this gear’s availability at the release of Patch 5.4, and their effectiveness because of this oversight, there is a possibility they may influence the race for world first in the Eden’s Promise raid. After careful deliberation, we have chosen to leave these items in their present state.

This will also affect the balance of gear obtained from Eden’s Promise (Savage), as well as the newly added Exarchic crafted gear. We apologize for this and ask for your understanding.
However, it should be noted that, as with previous patches, fully melded Exarchic crafted gear will prove comparable to, if not more effective than, the aforementioned belts and accessories.

While this decision was ultimately made due to the timing of the error’s discovery, we have determined that to leave these items unchanged will not leave any players at a disadvantage. Nevertheless, we will be re-evaluating our work flow to ensure issues such as this do not occur again in the future
