Forspoken‘s PS5 exclusivity period, previously expected to last around two years, will end January 23, 2025, according to an official PS5 promotional video. With that confirmation, an Xbox Series X|S release could very likely happen two years after the game comes out next January.
A new PS5 promotional video, “Play Like Never Before,” was released today, showcasing the graphical capabilities and gameplay experience of the console, using footage from PS5 titles. As the video shows off some impressive gameplay from the upcoming PS5 exclusive Forspoken, a disclaimer from Sony reads: “Forspoken available Jan 24, 2023. PS5 Exclusive until January 23, 2025.”
While that two-year exclusivity period is longer than for other multi-platform titles that were formerly PS5 exclusives like Deathloop, the fact that there is now an explicit, communicated ending date points to a likely Xbox Series X|S release in the future. Forspoken is a demanding, current-gen-only title, and the Xbox Series X|S consoles are more than capable of handling its hardware requirements for an Xbox release pending the game’s success.
That said, it’s not guaranteed, as games like Final Fantasy 7 Remake has still not made its way to Xbox platforms even after more than a year of being out.
Forspoken comes out January 24, 2023 for the PS5 and PC. Check out the Forspoken “Magic Combat” deep dive video from last week explaining Forspoken’s elemental-magic combat system.

Still a complete waste of money (millions) though, just like DOALoop and that Shinji Mikami game I can’t even remember the name of.
But that’s what Jim Ryan and PlayStation are brilliant at these days, hemorrhaging money (these deals) and wasting resources, dev time, more money (garbage failure PC releases).
PC ports aren’t a failure. I’ve never owned a Playstation and I never will, but I’ve bought Days Gone, Horizon Zero Dawn, and God of War on Steam and will likely buy the Uncharted collection, The Last of Us and other exclusives that are coming to PC at some point. They’ve made tons of money for Sony. Exclusivity only means losing money, it’s never tempted me to want to buy console junk and it never will.
That’s adorable. What a relic of the 1990’s. Nobody is going to buy a Playstation to play this game so all they’re doing is delaying extra revenue for two years for a game nobody will even remember existed by then. This just isn’t the business model for success in 2022.
