Fortnite Star Wars Crossover Begins May 3, Bringing the Force to Battle Royale and Beyond
The now-annual Fortnite Star Wars crossover begins on May 3, bringing blasters, lightsabers, and galactic battles to the world’s most popular battle royale. The crossover will introduce new content to all of Fortnite’s core modes, including LEGO, Fortnite Festival, and Rocket Racing.
You can watch the new cinematic for the Fortnite Star Wars crossover below:
The introduction of Star Wars content will mark the end of the Avatar: The Last Airbender crossover event, so make sure you finish unlocking those items soon. LEGO Fortnite’s definitely getting the biggest chunk of content as part of this crossover, so we’ll start there:
LEGO Fortnite
The crossover brings a new island to LEGO Fortnite. This new island is home to both Rebels and the Empire, and players can help build up the Rebel Village to earn special rewards like lightsabers and unique blasters. They’ll also have to fight against the Empire’s forces. It’s even possible to make new settlements out of the remnants of Empire’s bases.
There’s also a new LEGO Pass centered around Star Wars content. Buying the pass will immediately grant you the new Chewbacca skin, and progression unlocks new builds for the mode itself. It’ll run you about 1,400 V-Bucks, which is not too bad in the grand scheme of things.
Battle Royale
Chewbacca also makes an appearance in the flagship Battle Royale mode. You’ll have to free him from Imperial Roadblocks in each match, at which point he’ll reward you with a powerful Wookie Bowcaster to take down your enemies. This weapon has a charge shot available as an alternative to its regular rapid fire.
Darth Vader also makes a return to the island, and you can once again get his lightsaber by defeating him. In the past, he landed at a random spot and was guarded by a patrol of Stormtroopers, so it’ll likely operate the same way. You can block, slash, and throw with it as you’d expect. You can also grab one of the Stormtrooper’s E-11 blaster rifles.
As is typically the case with these crossovers, there will also be a handful of quests to complete. Doing them all will award you with a Star Wars-themed back bling.
Fortnite Festival
The classic Mos Eisley Cantina is replacing the Fortnite Festival Jam Stage as part of the event. Players will also have a chance to jam out to the classic Cantina Band track as part of the event and even buy special Cantina Band instruments to add to the immersion of it all. In particular, the Seven-string Hallikset Guitar is unlockable by completing quests.
Rocket Racing
There are some new vehicle decals to unlock in Rocket Racing. In particular, there’s an Anakin’s Podracer decal and a Darth Maul decal that add some extra Star Wars spice to your races! Completing a set of, you guessed it, quests will also unlock an Energy Binders trail for your wheels inspired by podracing.
A handful of Star Wars skins will also release across all platforms. Dagobah Luke and Cloud City Lando Calrissian are brand new, and all previous Star Wars skins will also make a return, including Boba Fett, Han Solo, Leia Organa, Kylo Ren, and more. You’ll also be able to buy a Mandalorian-themed car skin for Rocket Racing and Battle Royale.
We’ll be sure to share patch notes once the crossover officially drops in-game. The Fortnite Star Wars event begins May 3.
