And no ray tracing in gameplay. Just in the glorified photo mode that is fortzavista. I hope they enable gameplay ray tracing on the PC build. Considering how every Xbot was prancing about the SX’s specs pre-launch and claiming the PS5 to be underpowered only for GT7 to be 60fps WITH ray tracing while FH5 is hitting 30fps without ray tracing… Embarassing. I would say glad I’m on PC but that game will probably be identical to the SX build.

Forza Motorsport (8) will also feature full raytracing and run in 4k @60fps on the Series X. But that’s easy to achieve when you are dealing with a closed environment that doesn’t feature very complex geometry and particle effects, and a limited number of cars on screen.
FH5 should really only be compared with the open world Gran Turismo that doesn’t exist yet (but is rumored to be in the pipelines – knowing how long it takes for PDI to develop a game, it may come out in 2030).

This will happen every gen. Soon as you crank up the level of detail and triple what’s happening on screen whether it’s physics or AI something is going to have to give. Or do we want Forza Horizon 4 quality at 4k60. This can be done but at what cost.

The environments look sooooo amazingI Just hope they place the cars on the track! They look like they are floating and it was generated with a PC (too clean), it looks like computer graphics and I hate that. Also cars need to get dirtied up. While I’m sure will see this in Forza be nice to see it in FH as well

Example is Drive Club always felt like actual film was so impressive even still from a 2014 game

That’s what good lighting does for you. Something that, honestly, EVERY Forza title has always struggled with. That, and model accuracy have always been problematic. It’s why Sony’s first party racing titles have always looked better than MS’ Forza series. Honestly, best looking racing title to ever come out of MS was PGR on 360. And they rewarded that studio by shutting them down…

Ugh, “next gen” and we are still stuck with a 4K/30 FPS default if you want full graphical fidelity. Tell me, what has changed since the previous gen? Hopefully the PC version will have uncapped framerates.

And now finally, with yet another revelation like this, the Xbots can cop on and accept reality and not expect native 4K/locked 60fps in every game……. not even a racer that should have that, and no ray tracing either. You can thank series s for that probably.

I guess they aren’t bothering with ray tracing when only one of the 4 consoles the game is coming to could manage rt competently, so they aren’t bothered.

But we all know they will forget tomorrow and next year at Wait til E3 2022 when an ingame/CG trailer gets released for a game.
