Forza Horizon 6 Early Access Success Shows Players Are Ready for Premium Prices
Discussion about game prices has always been a major topic in the gaming industry. Games priced at $60 to $70 were considered normal for a long time, but with GTA 6 getting closer, there has been more talk about another unavoidable price increase.
Even though many players openly complain and say that $80 is already too expensive for a game, Steam is showing a different trend.
The Premium Edition of Forza Horizon 6, which costs $120, currently has around 153K active players and reached a peak of 178K players on the platform.
Forza Horizon 6 Shows Gamers May Accept Higher Game Prices

What makes these numbers even more impressive is that they only represent players who paid $120 to access the game four days before its official launch on May 19. And these numbers are only from Steam. If Xbox player numbers were added as well, the total player count would likely be much higher.
Forza Horizon 6 is also currently the second best-selling game on Steam, only behind Subnautica 2. Even before the full launch, the game has already built a very large player base because Premium Edition owners can start playing early.
This clearly shows that when players are really excited for a game, many of them are ready to spend more money on early access and premium editions.
Because of this, even though Rockstar has not confirmed a price for GTA 6, it now seems likely that many players would still buy the game even if it costs more than the standard $70 price for AAA games, making higher game prices across the industry feel increasingly normal.
