FromSoftware Shareholders Push for More Sequels, But President Wants to Create “Valuable Games”
FromSoftware has only two officially announced games on its schedule right now: The Duskbloods and the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Elden Ring.
While fans continue to wait for news about what comes next, some investors are reportedly growing impatient and pushing for the studio to make more sequels to its biggest hits.
According to comments made to Japanese outlet Den Faminico Gamer, FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki spoke about pressure coming from Oasis, a major shareholder in Kadokawa, the parent company of FromSoftware.
FromSoftware President Responds to Investor Pressure Over Sequels

In an effort to increase profits at the parent company, investors want changes that they believe would help FromSoftware reach its full value. One of their main suggestions is developing sequels to major hits such as Dark Souls and other successful franchises. In their view, these projects are a safer investment than creating entirely new games.
Miyazaki, however, is not convinced. He believes the studio’s current approach is already strong enough without relying heavily on sequels and spin-offs.
“I am generally satisfied with the development environment that FromSoftware currently has,” Miyazaki said. “I wouldn’t say there aren’t any areas for improvement, but we are able to create the games we want to make without excessive interference.”
He continued, “I believe that maintaining such an environment in the future, allowing us to concentrate solely on game development as much as possible, is of utmost importance to both myself and us at FromSoftware.”
While some shareholders may be dreaming of the potential sales of Bloodborne 2 or Dark Souls IV, those do not appear to be part of the studio’s current plans.
Miyazaki ended with a message for fans, “If our users happen to read this message, we want to assure you that we will continue to work harder than ever to create truly valuable games. We hope you will look forward to our upcoming titles, both those already announced and those yet to be announced.”
