Future Destiny DLC and Next Full Release Already In Development, Says Activision

Destiny’s first DLC, The Dark Below, is on course to launch this December, but already developer Bungie is heads down in future content, including the game’s second expansion, House of Wolves, and the new IP’s next full game release.

Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg confirmed the news during the company’s recent Q3 2014 earnings call, stating that, with regards to Destiny’s future outlook, “Work has also begun on future expansion packs as well as on our next full game release.”

No details or launch timing for future releases were talked about during the call, but we do know that Bungie’s next title is the second of what is likely four Destiny releases in total over the course of the next decade, in addition to DLC.

Earlier today, it was reported that Destiny has amassed over 9.5 million registered users since launch and its active player base is spending an average of three hours per day playing the game.

Additional details from today’s earnings call revealed that Destiny is also the only new franchise to crack the top 30 most successful new video game releases of all time while Activision’s Q3 2014 was also the most successful in the company’s history.
