Gran Turismo 7 Description Says That Players Can Sell Cars Even If the Game Doesn’t Let You

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.18

Some shrewd-eyed users on Reddit have spotted that you can apparently sell cars according to a Gran Turismo 7 description, even if the game doesn’t let you. This comes at the heels of the game’s current controversies, with so many issues not beginning to pile up (from race rewards being reduced, to server outages affecting the campaign) that even the boss of the studio has since offered apologies.

This newest report comes from a Reddit thread on the official Gran Turismo sub, where user CMDR_Rrah screenshotted a description of Gran Turismo 7 that apparently borders on false advertising. While the description for the game on the official store page says that you can “sell your way” through a solo campaign, you can’t actually sell any cars in the game.

A quick cursory glance over on the official store page for the game still reads as such based on a screenshot we took :

Experience the complete Real Driving simulator… 25 years in the making.

Get behind the wheel of over 400 cars from day one – with each classic motor and bleeding-edge supercar recreated with unparalleled detail – and navigate over 90 track routes in dynamic weather conditions.

With the reintroduction of the legendary GT Simulation Mode, you can buy, tune, race and sell your way through a solo campaign as you unlock new cars and challenges.

And if you love going head-to-head with others, hone your skills and compete in GT Sport Mode.*

This has got the users on the Reddit thread quite riled up, with one user even mentioning that there’s a trophy for the game that requires a player to buy 10 of the same car. After doing so, however, they found out that they cannot sell those duplicates, and now they have nine that they can’t even make use of.

If this is an oversight, it’s a very weird and quirky one, as allowing players to sell dupes of items – or in this case, cars – has always been a staple of almost every game that utilizes an inventory management system. A few days ago, the studio came under fire as the latest update for GT7 reduced the payout on some of the game’s more lucrative races, with many leading to believe that it may have to do with the fact that the system is trying to push players into paying for credits via microtransactions.

Whatever the case may be, it would appear that Gran Turismo 7’s issues keep surfacing one after the other, and here’s hoping that Polyphony addresses the criticisms soon.

Despite these issues, you can check out our review of Gran Turismo 7 here, where James wrote, “Gran Turismo 7 represents a true return to form for Polyphony Digital. Despite being the seventh mainline iteration, the team is still able to keep the series feeling fresh with its new coat of paint and innovative technology with its new weather system (and even a new AI tech called “Sophy”). For Gran Turismo players out there thinking this might be a half step measure, it’s not; it’s a full blown experience and so much more. It’s an essential must-play for any fan out there and it just might be my favorite Gran Turismo thus far.”
