GTA5 Now at Over 150M Units Sold Since Launch; Red Dead Redemption 2 at Over 38M Units Sold

GTA5 sales

If you’re looking forward to the next Rockstar Games epic, and wondering why parent company Take-Two Interactive isn’t putting the squeeze on the studio to churn the next Grand Theft Auto or Red Dead Redemption right away, it’s because they don’t have to!

In today’s Take-Two financial earnings call, the publisher announced that Grand Theft Auto V (GTA5) has now sold over 150 million units since it launched back in 2013! As for its more recent brother Red Dead Redemption 2, the game has sold over 38 million units since its launch back in 2018!

In total, the Grand Theft Auto franchise has sold over 350 million units, which is an insane number especially considering how there’s not a sequel for it churned out every year unlike other franchises.

While we’re waiting for Grand Theft Auto 6, and Red Dead Redemption 3, both games’ online components — GTA Online, and Red Dead Online — are getting a lot of post-launch support, so don’t expect these two sequels to be out anytime soon.
