After the resounding success of Elden Ring and its DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, one might assume that FromSoftware is already working on a sequel. However, this is not the case, although the potential for expanding the franchise in the future has not been dismissed by developer, FromSoftware.

FromSoftware Has No Plans to Make Elden Ring 2 for Now

Today, the PlayStation Partner Awards 2024 Japan Asia took place, where Shadow of the Erdtree won the event’s grand award. Following this achievement, Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki was asked about the possibility of a sequel. Unfortunately, the developer revealed that, at least for now, there are no plans for Elden Ring 2, as FromSoftware is focusing on other projects. Here’s what he had to say:

At this point, we are not considering developments such as ‘Elden Ring 2’. However, this does not mean that we are denying the development of the ‘Elden Ring’ IP. As for ‘what will we do then?’, FromSoftware is running multiple projects as usual. Among them, there are various projects, so I hope you will look forward to them.

While a sequel isn’t on the horizon, Miyazaki’s words suggest that Elden Ring may still have a future in some form, with FromSoftware exploring different directions for the franchise.

In the same interview, Miyazaki noted that the studio is working on multiple projects from a “wide range” of genres at the moment, it’s currently unknown what the studio’s next game will be or when it will be available.

In other FromSoftware news, the studio’s parent company, Kadokawa Corporation, is in talks with Sony for a full-on acquisition. While nothing has been finalized yet, it seems this is a deal that might push through given both parties are interested in it.

In other Elden Ring news, a player intends to take legal action against FromSoftware over the game’s high difficulty.

Armored Core 7(or an expansion on 6), please and thanks. They usually announce stuff at the VGAs, so fingers crossed.
