Fans of Hazelight Studios‘ split-screen co-op titles A Way Out and It Takes Two are in for a treat in the very near future. Josef Fares, Hazelight Studios head and director of both games, has hinted at a new game announcement at this year’s The Game Awards show, and says that his next game “will blow your f*cking mind.”

As Turn Me Up Games’ Switch port of It Takes Two nears release, Fares has been candidly speaking about the success of his portfolio as well as Hazelight Studios’ upcoming projects. While being careful to not reveal too many details about his next game, Fares revealed that “good progress” was being made on the project and that he will be presenting the Game of the Year award at this year’s The Game Awards ceremony. While not quite a confirmation of a new game announcement at the event, it is reasonable to assume that of Fares considering his colorful history with The Game Awards.

We’re making good progress, but there’s a lot more to do. It’s definitely going in the right direction. And it’ll be something really f*cking cool.

Get ready for me man, I’m coming. Trust me… it will blow your f*cking mind.

Fares isn’t the only auteur likely to reveal a new game at The Game Awards this year: the legendary Hideo Kojima has been teasing a possible game announcement at this year’s ceremony for the last few months. Whatever the case, the last quarter of 2022 will definitely be an exciting time for gamers.
