LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Playable on Xbox Digitally Before Official Release
For those looking forward to the latest Batman game, Warner Bros. has the LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight set scheduled for release on May 22.
However, there is a way to play the game now — if you’re on Xbox, at least.
Thanks to one mega retailer’s snafu, Xbox gamers have confirmed they are able to play the latest LEGO Batman game right now, and it’s all legal.

Over on the LEGO Gaming subreddit, user Dramatic-Track-9935 pre-order LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight on the Walmart app, which then let the person download the entire game on their Xbox Series console.
Once that was done, they received a notification that it “was ready to start,” and lo and behold, it did start — a full two weeks before the game’s official release on May 22.
The user provided continuous update on whether they were able to play the full game or not, and relayed a “final update,” stating, “Played all night. Before I shut off the Xbox I did see “required update available” and so I unplugged the Ethernet cord to cut my Xbox off from the internet. I wanna see if people report the update as removing access before I download it.”
Multiple people online have reported that this method has worked for them too, as buying the game on the Walmart app seemingly unlocks the game. There should be a patch download that might prevent gamers from playing it this early, but as one user has said, the game “definitely needs a day 0 patch.”
You can give it a go yourself on the Walmart app, but there is a chance Walmart or Xbox have patched this, so don’t blame us if you can’t play it right away.
In development by TT Games, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is the latest LEGO game from the studio and features an open-world Gotham City remade in LEGO. It’ll feature the rise of the Dark Knight and will have players embark on a journey that begins with the origins of Batman.
