Marvel’s Avengers Requires “One-Time Online Access,” Even for Single-Player

Marvel’s Avengers Game Iron Man Skill Tree Guide

With today’s War Table devstream for Marvel’s Avengers, the studio not only showcased our first look at co-op gameplay, but we even got a look at the game’s main villain, and even a long look at gameplay. Unfortunately, another thing seems to have been revealed today, and it’s not as pleasant as the gameplay we’ve gotten.

Spotted on the PlayStation Store’s listing for the game, which updated recently, it mentions how the game needs a “one-time” online access even for single-player. Check out the full blurb below along with a screenshot in case it gets changed.

*One-time online access required for single-player campaign online access required for multiplayer and to download post-launch content. Free Square Enix Members account required. Platform-specific online subscription fee may be required. Beta will launch on PlayStation®4 seven (7) days prior to other game platforms. Beta release date(s), platform and region availability to be announced

In case you think that’s a PlayStation Store listing error, EB Games’ listing for the title also has it mentioned too!

*One-time online access required for single-player campaign; online access required for multiplayer and to download post-launch content. Free Square Enix Members account required. Platform-specific online subscription fee may be required. Beta release date(s), platform and region availability to be announced.

Finally, the game’s official box art has also been updated to list “Internet Required” as part of it. And yes, it’s also mentioned in the Xbox One version as well.

Check out images of the old and new box art:

While it’s quite rare these days for gamers to not be connected to the internet when gaming, this might prove to be troublesome for people looking to buy Marvel’s Avengers and will be playing it without internet access at all.

Will this affect your decision in getting Marvel’s Avengers or not at all? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Personally I’m going with the NO time access to play the game. Not bothered, game has been a steaming mess since BEFORE it’s E3 reveal last year.
Way too much development time spent on online crap I will never touch, so I won’t ever touch the game as a result.

Thankfully we have Spiderman to save this Marvel game universe.

I bet that mouth of yours is eating those words by now..Considering it looks incredible now and plays great. you’re a good example of one of those that hate and thrash a game before its release..and sadly, there are a lot of you.

Spoke too soon did we? Looks great plays clunky and slow as hell. So eat those words. The game lacks every bit of personality that the movies/comics give you.

You’d find any excuse to down this game, so I won’t even bother, the games community is better without you kid.

Personally, I am not a big fan of ‘you need to have an internet connection to play a (story) game’ thing, but since you only need access to download the day one patch (in order to remove the game from bugs and other glitches), I still may want to try the game…
