Apex Legends microtransactions

It looks like re-releasing the Mass Effect trilogy, and gambling on a new indie project has paid off for publisher EA! In the publisher’s most recent quarterly financials report, the publisher noted how these two drove revenue up, and how Apex Legends continues to rake the money in terms of microtransactions.

According to Blake Jorgensen, EA COO & CFO, microtransactions net revenue amount to $1.55 billion which was led by Apex Legends, while this quarter got a “big beat” by It Takes Two, and Mass Effect Legendary Edition.

We delivered a big beat this quarter, primarily driven by outperformance from 2 high-quality new games, our Mass Effect Legendary Edition, and It Takes Two, the second title from our partnership with Hazelight Studios. It Takes Two launched at the very end of the prior quarter and showed considerable strength through Q1. Live services also performed better than expected, led by continued growth in Apex Legends. As a result, we delivered net revenue of $1.55 billion and net bookings of $1.34 billion. – Blake Jorgensen, EA COO & CFO

Speaking of Apex Legends, EA has also announced how the game amassed over 13 million active weekly players in Season 9!
