Metal Gear Solid 3 fans on Xbox looking forward to the remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, may be saddened to learn that Snake Vs. Monkey won’t be available on the platform, as it will be exclusive to the PS5 and PC versions.

Instead, Konami has prepared a special game, with all signs pointing to a collaboration with another Konami-owned IP, Bomberman.

Snake Vs .Bomberman?

As revealed during today’s State of Play (leaked last week), Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be released on August 28, 2025. A new trailer (again leaked) was shared during today’s showcase, but to the surprise of many, the trailer uploaded for the Xbox version was a bit different.

If you watch the trailer above, you’ll notice that rather than teasing Snake vs. Monkey, an Ape Escape game that was featured in the original Metal Gear Solid 3 as part of a collaboration with PlayStation, the Xbox trailer instead ends with teasing a different game. Long-time fans will no doubt recognize the tease being of Bomberman, another Konami-owned IP.

Konami confirmed that the Snake vs. Monkey game is exclusive to the PlayStation 5 and PC versions while noting that “A different special game will be implemented” for the Xbox version. No word on whether that will be exclusive to the Xbox version or if Bomberman will also be featured in the PlayStation and PC versions of the game.

Understandable, as PlayStation does own the Ape Escape IP. Though considering how we haven’t had a new Ape Escape game since its spin-off on the PS3 back in 2010, it’s odd that they decided not to allow the mode to be playable on the Xbox version. Hopefully that changes down the line, though we are excited to see what kind of game the Bomberman version will be.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater launches on August 28, 2025, on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
