Konami Hints at Reboots for Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Suikoden, Calls Them “Important Initiatives” to Their Pillars

If you haven’t been paying attention over the last few years, Konami has made a major comeback in gaming with new releases like Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, and soon Castlevania. If you thought they were planning on slowing down anytime soon, well, guess again, as it looks like they have some big plans for some of their long-dormant gaming franchises.

We aren’t just talking about HD collections, either, as it seems Konami is planning to reboot major IPs, with the highlights being Metal Gear, Castlevania, and Suikoden.

Next week, Metal Gear Solid fans will be able to play the latest game under the franchise brand with the release of Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.

Konami Going All In

In a recent interview (via Nikkei Gaming), Konami Digital Entertainment’s president Hideki Hayakawa spoke about their upcoming pipeline, which includes the newly announced Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse and Rev. Noir, slated to release in the coming months. But what’s catching many eyes is his comment about other franchises: Metal Gear, Castlevania, Suikoden, and Silent Hill.

“We have a variety of titles in the pipeline, including the soccer game eFootball, baseball franchises such as eBaseball: PRO SPIRITS and Powerful Pro Baseball, Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME, the mobile game Suikoden STAR LEAP, which opened pre-registration on July 1, 2026, and Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, scheduled for release on October 15. Another key title is Rev. NOiR, a completely new IP announced in February. It is an RPG for game consoles that we plan to release globally. We have high expectations that players around the world will be very excited about it.

It's been one heck of a week for video game fans, as a ton of Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay footage has leaked out of nowhere, a week before Take-Two Interactive airs its extended look at the game on Netflix.

Reboots of existing IPs such as METAL GEAR, SILENT HILL, Castlevania, and Suikoden are important initiatives that serve as pillars of our business. At the same time, we have a strong desire at KONAMI to create entirely new genres and works.”

Whether he’s referring to Metal Gear Solid Delta as a “reboot” is not entirely clear, but at the very least, it reinforces that Konami is not done with Metal Gear, along with the other mentioned franchise. Silent Hill, of course, saw Silent Hill f and soon Townfall, which are pretty much revivals of the series. Here’s hoping we see some new installments in the Metal Gear franchise, and Suikoden (non-mobile).
