Xbox First Party Game Price

A statement from a Microsoft spokesperson confirms that starting in 2023, first-party Xbox games will release for $70 at launch. For reference, Xbox first party games are currently launching at $60 on release. This price change includes games already announced such as Starfield and Redfall. Here’s the official statement as relayed to IGN:

“This price reflects the content, scale, and technical complexity of these titles. As with all games developed by our teams at Xbox, they will also be available with Game Pass the same day they launch.”

As mentioned in the quote, the games will still launch on Day 1 via the Game Pass, so those subscribed to the pass shouldn’t really have to worry too much, at least for now. For those who prefer owning games instead of subscribing, however, this means that they’ll have to shell out an extra 10 bucks, much to the dismay of many Xbox owners.

At the very least, the Game Pass remains untouched, so this change should incentivize Xbox owners to pick the pass up. In the meantime, check out this interesting buy-one-get-one sale on the Xbox Store for select Ubisoft games that’s running till December 15.
