Are you trying to ping enemies and other points of interests in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 but can’t seem to do it? It’s not just you, but it seems Infinity Ward has stealth removed the feature via a server-side hotfix! If you’re wondering why,  it’s because there’s a Modern Warfare 2 ping bug that when done, will grant the player a wallhack against the player for an entire match!

This little nugget was spotted by zFStatic over on Reddit, where a video was uploaded as proof:

Huge Bug: You can Ping an enemy during the death screen and the Ping lasts for the whole game, essentially giving you wallhacks on that one player for the remainder of the game. from ModernWarfareII

Multiple new comments on the same thread have seemingly confirmed that pinging was taken out after a recent playlist update went live, which is understandable given how bad this bug is. Heck,. one player even confirmed that this ping bug worked for the ENTIRE TEAM, stating “And by the way your entire squad can see the ping. We managed to ping the entire enemy team in a game today lol.”

Hopefully, we get pinging back in its entirety as I did find it useful in the beta given how there were no red dots when someone fired on the mini map, this, at the very least, helped you point out to teammates where some enemies were situated at. For those not familiar how to do it on consoles, it was double tapping Up on the directional pad.
