Call of Duty fans only have to wait a little longer, as Infinity Ward and Activision have revealed the full Modern Warfare 2 launch timeline, including pre-load times for the Campaign Early Access as well as the full game and more. In anticipation for the launch, we’ve gathered all the info you need to know about the game ahead of its release on October 28.
Players who pre-ordered Modern Warfare 2 can begin pre-loading the Campaign Early Access at 10am PT/1 pm ET/1 am HKT on October 19, with the mode going live at the same time on October 20. PlayStation players get to pre-load the full game first on October 19, with the Xbox rollout following a few hours later. PC players will have to wait until two days before the game’s October 28 launch to pre-load the game.

What is Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Early Access?
The Campaign Early Access mode is a special pre-order bonus that takes players through the backstory of the legendary Task Force 141 following the events of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Players will explore Task Force 141’s links to the Mexican Special Forces, and unlock permanent rewards upon the mode’s completion:
- The Union Guard Weapon Blueprint
- Four base Operators
- Special cosmetic items
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Pre-Season
Modern Warfare 2’s pre-season runs from October 28 through November 15. Level up through the Military Ranks to unlock all base Loadout items, complete each Weapon Platform’s progression tree to unlock all weapons and attachments, and progress through each Special Ops Kit’s tier system ahead of Season 01. Once the game launches, Vault Edition owners gain access to the FJX Cinder Weapon Vault and Red Team 141 Operator Pack, and for those who unlocked rewards during Campaign Early Access and the Beta, rewards will become available once the full game is live.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Season 01 & Warzone 2.0 Launch
In addition to a host of other content, a returning fan-favorite Multiplayer map and additional Special Ops missions arrive to Modern Warfare II. All players can drop into all-new Al Mazrah map as part of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, survive a brand-new experience in DMZ, and enjoy a new Battle Pass system and two free functional weapons. Vault Edition owners can activate their free seasonal Battle Pass unlock and 50 Tier Skips.
Season 1 Reloaded & Raids
On December 14, Special Ops receives the very first episode of Raids, which are a direct continuation of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign Plus, another legendary Multiplayer map comes to Modern Warfare II, while Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 has its first post-launch update.
