Modern Warfare 3 UK Sales in the First Month Hit 38% Below Modern Warfare 2 Numbers

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 sales numbers in the UK have been reported for the month of November. While the game topped the charts, comparing the numbers to last year’s Call of Duty sales show that Modern Warfare 3’s down quite a bit.

According to a report from Games Industry, Modern Warfare 3 was the highest-selling game in the UK for the month of November. It beat out EA FC 24 and the Switch port of Hogwarts Legacy, as well as games that released in October like Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

However, despite its podium status, Modern Warfare 3’s numbers were actually nearly 38% lower than Modern Warfare 2’s were last year. There’s no clear reason this might’ve occurred, but it’s likely due to the widely negative feedback for Modern Warfare 2 following its release and the general sentiment that Modern Warfare 3 didn’t do enough to differentiate itself from its predecessor.

We gave Modern Warfare 3 a 6/10, citing its abruptly short campaign and lack of significant evolutions over Modern Warfare 2’s mechanics. While the core multiplayer community is having a much better time in the game than they were after last year’s release, it just isn’t enough to bring in the same numbers.
