MSI, one of the top PC gaming brands, has just teased its first portable handheld gaming console, which is set to be unveiled next week during CES 2024.

Mostly known for their high-end gaming laptops, MSI is throwing their hats into the handheld gaming console market as they’ve released a short teaser on Instagram, showing a glimpse of their new device.

Not much else is known about MSI’s handheld gaming console beyond the teaser, though, considering the line of laptops offered by them, we expect this to be a pretty powerful handheld—possibly the most powerful among the available handheld devices. Of course, with more power, that means more battery usage, so let’s see if MSI has managed to strike a good balance between performance and battery life.

We have questions about other areas, such as whether or not it’ll use OLED for its screen, how the user experience will compare to the Steam Deck, and the price point. Luckily, CES 2024 starts next week, so we won’t have long to wait before some of those questions are answered. Let’s hope the price remains within being competitive with Valve’s Steam Deck, as anything over $1000 could be pushing it, especially when you can probably grab one of MSI’s gaming laptops for around that price.

What are you hoping to see from this announcement?
