NetEase Cracks Down on Marvel Rivals Console KBM Adapters With Account Suspensions, Leaderboard Bans

NetEase Games, the developer behind Marvel Rivals, has announced a strict policy against using mouse and keyboard adapters on consoles, labeling it as cheating.
The decision aims to uphold competitive fairness between PC and console gamers. Mouse and keyboard adapters allow console players to use PC-style controls, which can provide an unfair advantage over controller users. To address this, NetEase has developed detection tools and employs human moderators to identify such violations.
Additionally, Marvel Rivals provides aim assist settings for controller players on both PC and consoles. Players using adapters can take advantage of both the accuracy of a mouse and the help from aim assist, disrupting the game’s competitive balance.
Using Mouse and Keyboard Adapters Could Lead to Account Suspensions and Leaderboard Removal 
NetEase specifically named adapter manufacturers such as XIM, Cronus Zen, and KeyMander, warning that their use could lead to penalties. Players caught using these devices face serious consequences, including temporary or permanent account suspensions and removal from leaderboards.
To further support its efforts, NetEase has previously introduced a replay system, allowing players to review matches and report suspected cheating.
Although Marvel Rivals supports crossplay, console players are restricted from competing with PC players in ranked competitive modes. This restriction is another step toward ensuring a fair gaming environment.
NetEase’s decision aligns with other gaming companies taking steps to prevent the use of mouse and keyboard adapters in competitive games. For example, Rainbow Six Siege rolled out a system called Mousetrap, which adds input lag for players suspected of using adapters. Additionally, Rainbow Six Siege now matches detected players into PC lobbies for 90 days as a further deterrent.
