The last Just Cause title was released all the way back in 2018. Fans of the chaotic open-world series have waited for any news regarding the series’ future ever since, but Square Enix’s most recent financial results briefing, held on May 13 of this year, has some good news for them. In the report, Square Enix announced that a new Just Cause game is currently in development.
Unfortunately, the report doesn’t give any other details on the title. It does seem safe to assume that it will once again be developed by Avalanche Studios, and will likely continue the series’ penchant for destructible environments and intense action with some cool next-gen features. The report also failed to mention any goal for when Square Enix would be ready to reveal more information about the title, but the fact that they acknowledged its existence in the report at all is a decent sign that they may be getting ready to show off more to the public.
The report also made sure to emphasize that the series’ IP will remain with Square Enix, and fans of the series also have the previously announced Just Cause movie to look forward to hopefully in the near future.
