New Resident Evil Game in Development Confirmed

During the Capcom Next digital show that aired today, Capcom confirmed what we knew all along, and that’s a new Resident Evil game is in development!

This was confirmed by game director Koshi Nakanishi during the show’s ending segment:

Oddly enough, Capcom refrained from calling it Resident Evil 9, which should be the next Resident Evil game after Resident Evil Village (Part 8). Of course, chances are, Capcom won’t be calling it Resident Evil 9 but with another title, though it will still house the number IX in it somehow (as was the case for Resident Evil 7 and RE8).

One retailer has pegged Resident Evil 9 as “Revenant Shadows,” though Capcom has not confirmed or denied this listing. The latest rumor from the game mentions how the game will feature open-world elements, and will feature both Leon and Jill as the main protagonists.

Hopefully, this is the start of Capcom sharing more about Resident Evil IX in the coming months.
