No Marvel Rivals Beta “Planned for Now” According to NetEase

Following the super successful Marvel Rivals closed beta, one would assume that we’d get an open beta to really test the servers and whatnot, right? Well, we didn’t get any announcement like that at gamescom, and it seems we won’t be getting one at all, as the devs have confirmed that there is no Marvel Rivals beta (closed or open) “planned for now” as the studio is fully focused on gamescom.

This was revealed as part of the official Q&A conducted in the game’s official Discord channel (which you can watch in full here), though the devs didn’t exactly say there won’t be another beta until the game’s December release.

That said, I fully expect another beta to be available before launch. It’s not insider info or anything of the sort, but just common sense. NetEase will surely want to test the server capacity at (almost) full blast, and what better way to do it than with an open beta, right? That should also help with the game’s marketing and hype as well.

The question is: when? Chances are, it’ll happen before launch, and if I were to wager a guess, sometime in September or October would be the best timeframe for it, as the devs will then have enough time to make any changes before the December launch. Of course, if you’ve played the closed beta, you’ll know that the game is essentially feature-complete save a few stuff. Speaking of which, go read our closed beta review here to see why we’re super hyped to be playing the game again.

While we didn’t get another beta announcement at gamescom, we did get the game’s release date which is set for December 8, and alongside that, a good look at Captain America and the Winter Soldier in action as well.
