Overwatch 2 Release Date Takes Aim for October 4, PvP Will Be Free-to-Play

Blizzard Entertainment has sprung a surprise announcement today, as the company has revealed that the Overwatch 2 release date is now locked for October 4! This release will be in early access, and will house the game’s PvP component that will be free-to-play confirmed!

According to Blizzard, Overwatch 2 will offer cross-platform play and cross-platform progression when it launches, and adds, “Overwatch 2’s PvP experience is designed to offer incredible and fresh competitive gameplay with a new, free-to-play model and major game updates such as new heroes, hero reworks, maps, modes, and premium cosmetics.”

Launching with the game is the new hero Junker Queen! Check out first footage of her and info below.

According to Blizzard, more details on Junker Queen, Overwatch’s live service model and seasonal content plan will be revealed ruing the Overwatch 2 reveal event livestream on June 16 at 10 am PT/1 pm ET/1 am HKT. You’ll be able to watch it on official Overwatch YouTube channel and Twitch channel.
