Palworld Has Rejected a “Sheer Number” of Collaborations Because They Made No Sense

Palworld, which is also called “the Pokémon with guns” by fans, has become a huge success on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. After the successful launch of version 1.0, the game is also getting a mobile version.

After selling more than 30 million copies, it was not surprising that many companies would want to work with Palworld. However, Pocketpair prefers to reject these collaborations, no matter how much money they could bring in.

John Buckley, head of communications and publishing for Palworld, explained the studio’s policy on collaborations following some of the latest ones added to the game.

Palworld Creators Say They’ve Rejected Countless Collaborations

Pocketpair is not against these kinds of collabs. In fact, it has already worked with Valheim, Ultrakill, Terraria and other games, although some of these collaborations have caused some criticism.

After criticism of the Terraria collaboration, Buckley defended it, saying, “I think the Terraria collab in Palworld was pretty great!” However, he understands that some players would rather see collaborations that fit more closely with the game’s lore.

He added, “Completely understand some people would prefer a more lore-first approach but we’ve been very open about our fun-first approach since day 1!”

But Buckley wanted to make one thing clear. If a collaboration does not make sense for Pocketpair, the studio simply rejects it. He said, “You guys simply do not realize the sheer number of collabs we’ve rejected or scrapped for that reason.”

In short, Palworld has become a huge success, and Pocketpair now has a massive player base to look after. The studio does not want to overwhelm those players with collaborations that make no sense.
