After the somewhat recent success of their title The Mortuary Assistant, publisher DreadXP is planning to bring a famous horror franchise to a new medium. A new Paranormal Activity game is in the works through a partnership between Paramount Global and DreadXP, and it’s slated to arrive in 2026.

You can view a teaser for the upcoming horror game here via DreadXP’s official Twitter/X account:

The game was announced by Variety earlier this morning. Paranormal Activity, the popular found-footage film franchise that began in 2007, is set to receive a video game adaptation in 2026. The title aims to immerse players in the world and lore of the movies and weave a story meant to engage fans and newcomers alike.

Development is being headed by DreadXP’s co-director and creative director Brian Clarke, who was head developer for The Mortuary Assistant. The title will feature an evolution of The Mortuary Assistant’s Haunt mechanic, which dynamically changes the intensity and types of scares that players face in response to the actions they take while playing.

Brian Clarke had some enthusiastic words to say regarding taking on this new project alongside Paramount Global:

The success of the ‘Paranormal Activity’ franchise epitomizes the power and reach of the horror genre. If you thought ‘The Mortuary Assistant’ was scary, we’re taking what we learned during the development of that title and cranking it up with a more reactive and horrifying haunting system. It’s going to be intense!

We’re excited to see how this game shapes up. No word yet on whether this is going to be for PC or consoles but it is said to be “available across multiple platforms.”

Details are limited currently, but we’ll be sure to let our readers know as soon as we learn more.
