Silent Hill 2 Remake Studio Head Unhappy About Recent Trailer

The latest Silent Hill 2 Remake trailer is at the center of some harsh criticism, and fans have been in an uproar, commenting on the stiff movement and dull visuals. As it turns out, even Bloober Team’s president isn’t too happy about the trailer, saying that it doesn’t reflect the spirit of the game.

Piotr Babieno, the president of Bloober Team, recently took part in an interview with YouTube channel,  inwestyc.tv. In it, he opened up about a lot of things around the Silent Hill 2 Remake, but one notable part is when he made comments about the recent trailer featured in the last State of Play. From the sounds of it, he’s not too big of a fan of it himself. Here’s what Babieno had to say (translation provided by Eurogamer)

I wrote these negative comments myself – jokes Babieno, “Quite seriously, we are not responsible for the marketing side. Our partner [Konami] is entirely responsible for this…This trailer certainly does not reflect the spirit of the game.

This is neither the spirit of what once was nor the spirit of what we are creating now – he explains further. – We try to fully reflect this romantic vision of the game that debuted 22 years ago. We think that when players see real gameplay, a real game, they will evaluate it in a completely different way.”

As Babieno mentions, Konami is in charge of all the marketing that happens, which the studio made clear early last month. It would seem that the publisher’s vision of the game is colliding with Bloober Team’s vision, though we aren’t entirely sure if that addresses the issues most saw with the gameplay. Let’s hope the next trailer is more of what the Bloober Team wants fans to see.

Silent Hill 2 Remake currently doesn’t have a release date but is rumored to release this year according to a PlayStation leak.
