Outriders developer People Can Fly (PCF) has announced that Take-Two Interactive is seeking to terminate the development and publishing agreement between the two companies through a mutual understanding, having sent in a letter of intent..

Project Dagger, the two companies’ collaborative IP under this agreement, is now solely owned by PCF, and will be either self-published or released in cooperation with another publisher.

PCF and Take-Two Interactive will be negotiating a detailed settlement, as well as the repayment of advances received by PCF from Take-Two for the development of Project Dagger depending on how the game will be published in the future.

Sebastian Wojciechowski, CEO of PCF said:

I assume we will part on good terms, and I don’t see reasons why we couldn’t work with Take-Two on some other project in the future. We strongly believe in the Project Dagger’s potential and are now committed to continue its development within our self-publishing pipeline. The game is still in pre-production – our team is now focusing on closing combat and game loops and migrate from UE4 to UE5. I’m conscious that this decision will add investments on us, but self-publishing is part of our strategy. Of course, we are not ruling out working with a new publisher if this creates a compelling business opportunity.

Seven projects including Project Dagger are currently under development at PCF.

One of these is “Gemini,” a collaboration project with Square Enix. Two self-published games, “Bifrost” and “Victoria” are also in the pipeline. Another project titled “Red” is in the concept phase.

Two VR projects — Green Hell VR and a VR experience based on one of PCF’s existing IPs — are also in the works.

People Can Fly’s latest game release is Outriders, which was released back in April 2021. The studio also pumped out an expansion for it titled “Worldslayer,” which was released this June.
