Phantom Blade Zero Now the Highest Single-Player Game With Most Concurrent Players on Steam of 2026
With the launch of Phantom Blade Zero, games made by Chinese studios now have another AAA title that can rival anything made in the West, and it looks like gamers are liking what they’ve seen so far too.
Not only is the game receiving strong reviews, with an impressive 88 average on Metacritic, but it seems to be doing well commercially too.
While the sales numbers haven’t been shared by developer S-Game, early data suggests that the title is already doing well.
Phantom Blade Zero Receives Overwhelmingly Positive Reviews by Users on PC
On Steam, Phantom Blade Zero has a “Very Positive” review, amounting to 88% of the total marking the title as a solid game.
The action game’s first weekend has seen it reach a concurrent player high of 775,647 just on Steam alone. While Sony doesn’t share a game’s player base, Phantom Blade Zero is in the top 10 in 98% of the PlayStation Stores around the world, meaning it’s not just in China that the title is selling, but across the globe.
With that concurrent player count number, Phantom Blade Zero is now the game with the highest concurrent player count for a single-player game on Steam for 2026. The next title in the list is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, which peaked at 186,417 players, though it’s not really a fair comparison given Modern Warfare 4 does feature a multiplayer component.
When it comes to just single-player, the next highest for the year is CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077, which managed to hit a peak of 166,678 this year with the launch of the Edgerunners 2 content patch.
While most will point to the game being propped up by Chinese players, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter for game companies, as a sale is a sale regardless of where it’s from.
Congrats, S-Game! We’re playing through the game ourselves now, and it is one heck of a banger.
