GTA 6 Map Close to Size of GTA 4, GTA 5 and RDR2 Combined; “Criminal Profile” Will Influence How Story Unfolds
Based on what we’ve seen (official and leaked) from Grand Theft Auto 6, gamers will have a lot of area to cover come November 19. However, it seems we are underestimating just how big it is.
New official info has come to light, and it mentions how GTA 6’s map is twice the size (!) of GTA 5, but that’s not all.
It’s so big that it’s even comparable to past GTA games put together!
GTA 6’s Map Is So Big, It’s Close to GTA 4, GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2’s Maps Put Together
In a new cover story by EDGE magazine, it’s mentioned Leonida, Rockstar’s fictional take on Florida, is “roughly twice the size of GTA 5’s.” Rockstar shares that its total landmass, including Vice City and the surrounding areas, is “nearly as large as the playable maps of GTAIV, GTAV and RDR2 combined.”
That is insane to even think about, given how big those games’ maps are already. It looks like players will take a ton of time to navigate every corner of it, and you just know Rockstar has a slew of secrets hidden.
Don’t think that these are just open spaces either, as Rockstar’s Head of Development Aaron Garbut reiterates what we reported on previously that GTA 6 features “hundreds” of interior spaces.
GTA 6 contains “an order of magnitude more interiors,” and as Garbut shares, “Every back alley is as densely detailed and interesting as the others. You can go anywhere, any random location, and so many people have thought about that location.”
Just a reference point to how big it is: Garbut says that even after years of exploring, he still encounters locations that he has not seen previously.
GTA 6 Features “Criminal Profile” That Tracks Jason and Lucia’s Behaviour
Not only will players have a ton of landmass to discover, but even how the criminal system in the game is getting a huge upgrade, and it will even affect the story too.
Rockstar’s previous title, Red Dead Redemption 2, had a profound influence on the development team’s narrative ambitions too. GTA 6 will introduce a system called the “Criminal Profile,” which tracks Jason and Lucia’s behaviour on a scale from ‘Professional’ to ‘Irredeemable.”
This will be represented by angel and devil icons, and this time around, every combat encounter does NOT need to end in death. Players can incapacitate an enemy rather than kill them, or make threats and intimidate their target before resorting to violence.
The choices players make on whether to kill or not, will reflect in the game’s story, as Rockstar confirms that a player’s Criminal Profile will influence how Jason and Lucia’s story unfolds.
So far, it seems GTA 6 is going to be the biggest and most immersive game of all time, and should we even expect anything less from Rockstar at this point?
GTA 6 will be released on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and its file size has leaked ahead of release.
