PlayStation’s Revenue From Its PC Games Reached $300 Million in 2023
Sony has not officially confirmed it, but many trusted insiders, such as Jason Schreier, say that PlayStation may stop releasing its single-player games on PC, making them fully exclusive to PS5 and future PlayStation consoles.
According to these reports, Ghost of Yotei was expected to come to PC, but the port is said to have been cancelled. The same could happen with titles such as Saros, Marvel’s Wolverine, and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. However, live-service games like Marathon are still expected to launch on PC.
If true, then this means Sony is leaving a large sum of money off the table.
Sony Reportedly Pulling Back on PC Ports Despite Strong Success

A very interesting detail was recently found by X (formerly Twitter) user Timur222 in the Linkedin profile of a former PlayStation PC employee. The data shows that the division’s revenue between 2021 and 2023 was actually very strong.
Sony originally expected PlayStation games on PC to generate around 50 million dollars during the early years. Instead, revenue reached 300 million dollars by 2023, which was six times higher than expected.
Some of the PlayStation titles released on PC during that period included God of War (2018), Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, and The Last of Us Part I.
However, things seem to have changed since 2024. Aside from the huge success of Helldivers 2, later ports such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, God of War Ragnarok, and The Last of Us Part II Remastered did not attract the same level of interest from PC players.
One possible reason for this decline may have been the initial requirement to create a PSN account. Although Sony later removed that requirement, the damage may already have been done.
The big question now is whether the success of Death Stranding 2 on PC can change the direction of PlayStation’s current strategy. For now, there is no official communication, so all possibilities remain open.

Not worth it if it destroys your business in the medium to long term which with Microsofts pivot to a custom pc and stream machine it could. Sony make most of their money from the cut of games sold on their platform they take.
“If true”
Of course its true. If Sony needed to put a band aid on this situation quick, the situation being furious “PC gamers” (Xbots in disguise lol) saying they are angry at this….. and Sony was scared of this situation, then like I said, they would have said something by now around the lines of “we totally value you PC gamers (even though 97% of you pirate our single player games)”.
But they didn’t say this because there is NO FIRE to put out because they do not care because they are not bringing their single player games to PC anymore, end of. If you disagree with this, explain to me why they didn’t reassure anybody otherwise?
It was not a success, every single game was a horrendous flop, going by the people playing the game on Steam 24 hours after launch, like GOW Ragnarok only 7 months ago. I personally congratulated Hermen Hulst on the dumb “GOW Ragnarok PC launch” PlayStation blog post 24 hours later, it is still there.
“One possible reason for this decline may have been the initial requirement to create a PSN account”, this is UTTER nonsense. Every single Xbox game on Steam requires a Microsoft/Xbox account over 8 years now, even single player games. NOBODY bats an eyelid over this even though “Microsoft/Xbox” are literally cancer words to gaming and game development.
The same people that moaned about the free PSN account requirement are now claiming Sony are going to make a Launcher for PC and they (now) would TOTAL SUPPORT it……… when the Epic Games Store, half a decade later still doesn’t make a profit to run and maintain.
Congrats on the article. Pure lies or delusion on every paragraph.
300 million “revenue” not profit is a drop in the ocean compared to the HUNDREDS OF MILLION MARGIN/PROFIT brought in by PlayStation consoles, its users and its storefront.
