Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: Hydreigon and Dragapult Tera Raids Announced, Runs Jan. 6-8

pokemon scarlet violet tera raid

After the Cinderace Raid event last weekend, it looks like Game Freak‘s mellowing down on the event raids, at least until Cinderace makes its return on January 13. For this weekend’s event raids, we’ll be going up against either Hydreigon or Dragapult, depending on which version of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet you own.

Serebii recently announced the raid, and as you may have guessed, Hydreigon will be a Scarlet-exclusive raid whereas Dragapult will be a Violet-exclusive one.

These raids appear to be very similar to the Tyranitar and Salamence event raids that were held a couple of weeks ago. The Hydreigon/Dragapult raids will feature both Pokemon with various Tera types.

Unlike the Cinderace and Charizard raids, the Tera type will be random, which can be useful if you’re trying to catch a Hydreigon or Dragapult with a specific Tera type. This also means, however, that you’ll need to prepare multiple raid Pokemon if you want to be able to tackle every Tera event raid you come across.

If the format of this raid follows the Tyranitar/Salamence raids, the Dragaput/Hydreigon raids will only feature 4-5 star raid Pokemon, so they won’t be too difficult. You’ll also be able to join raids from other versions of the game, potentially allowing you to capture Dragaput in Scarlet and Hydreigon in Violet. If you haven’t completed your Pokedex yet, this may be a chance to get a few extra entries completed.

The Hydreigon and Dragapult raids will run from January 6 to January 8. In the meantime, check out our Cinderace event raid guide and our Cinderace solo guide to prepare for the bunny’s return on January 13 if you weren’t able to participate last weekend.
