Project L Gameplay Revealed in New Dev Update, Featuring Tag System and More

Project L Gameplay

Project L, Riot’s upcoming fighting game, just got a new developer update video. Riot Games posted the six-minute video detailing Project L’s core mechanics and gameplay.

The video goes over quite a few things, such as an update on Illaoi. Illaoi was first announced to be part of Project L in a dev article last August, and while we only had some concept art back then, we’re finally getting some gameplay footage of the tentacle-wielding priestess.

We also get an explanation of core gameplay mechanics from Shaun Rivera, game director and gameplay design lead for Project L. He mentions that they want to give players fluid movement, so players can dash, jump, dash chain, and more with their characters.

The tag system is also explored briefly, showing how you can get out of a combo using Dynamic Save, or how you can chain combos with two characters using Handshake Tag.

Project L is still under development, so this is probably the last we’ll hear from Riot on the game this 2022, but the devs plan on sharing more next year.
