While we’re used to the PS4 console getting patches, it seems Sony has released one for the PS3 — yes, the last-gen console! Now running on its 13th year, Sony has released PS3 update 4.86.
PS3 update 4.86 changes:
Main features in system software update version 4.86:
- This system software update improves the quality of the system performance.
Note:
- Depending on the software title, you may not be able to play without first updating the PS3 system software.
- Do not perform updates using any data other than the official update data provided by Sony Interactive Entertainment over a network or on disc media, and do not perform updates by methods other than those described in the product documentation or in this site. If an update is performed using data from another source, by another method, or with a PS3 system that has been altered or modified in any way, the PS3 system may not operate properly and may not be able to install the official update data. Any of these actions may void the PS3 system warranty and affect your ability to obtain warranty services and repair services from Sony Interactive Entertainment.
You can download the file right here if you want to load it onto a USB drive and update it manually.
Not mentioned here, Sony has removed the feature to message the PS4 and PS Vita using the PS3.

Are you able to play your ps3 iso games, with ALL the available extra content ?
For example, mass effect 1-2-3, or the trilogy, has received a bunch of important expansions, like the mars mission…moon.. and a bunch of weapon packs, and some extra stuff.
Is ALL the extra content available inside the ISO image, and can it be installed and played?
I have 1 ps3 fat, and 2 ps3 slim, with quite recent firmwares.
Any hope, to mod one of them ?
Ps. I need a solution for the end of the ps3 support on the psn… that won’t allow me to download and install all the important patches, often mandatory to make the game playable without many bug crap…

I have encountered the same issue, although regarding a DLC weapon that I purchased on the store for cod ghosts. It doest recognise my purchase.
They also at some point, removed any purchase history made on your account by ps3. Cant even see the purchase history on ps4 or on website unless it’s for a game on both systems like DCUO. I have no purchase history from Sept 2013 till 2017 but I buy multiple games and add-ons a year.
My PS3 won’t update ion know what to do it gets to the 99% n just goes to n error code n without this update I can’t go online so I need this fixed if you got n answer lmk I need some help
