PS3 Update 4.89 Now Live; Adds Additional Account Protection

Heads up! If you’re still using your PS3 and connecting it online, you’ll be greeted with a new download, as PS3 update 4.89 has been released, and it actually introduces something new! Read on for the PS3 update May 10 patch notes.

Per the system’s update history:

  • Signing in to PlayStation Network now requires a device setup password for enhanced account protection.
  • Account creation for PlayStation network and some account management features are no longer available on the console. Use your PC or Mobile browser to use account management features with improved performance, speed, and safety

However, there seems to be a hitch with this update as well, as it seems you CANNOT create new accounts on it!
