PS5 Pro Reveal Doesn’t Go as Expected, Community Reaction Largely Negative and Unimpressed

Following today’s PS5 Pro reveal, Sony might have been expecting players to line up, pry open their wallets, and be ready to soak in all that upgraded performance Well, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Over on Twitter/X, the official PlayStation account’s announcement was met with the following:

There’s a lot more of that, but you get the gist. Not only on Twitter, but even on the PS5 subreddit’s thread for the announcement, people are really not digging what they’ve seen.

It doesn’t stop there. Even on Facebook, the announcement from the official Facebook page had the following responses:

Given the price point and what we’ve seen, I don’t really blame people for feeling this way. I mean, there doesn’t seem to be a compelling reason to pony up more dough just to get slightly better performance? And don’t forget, there needs to be parity with the base PS5, so it’s not like the added horsepower from the PS5 Pro will equate to exclusive games for it.

Show the PS Blog screenshots, at least that’s real PSN accounts. I’m on there doing my part.
HORRENDOUS price and without a disc drive. No doubt there will be a 180 on this. And if there isn’t, then it’s a dead console.

Day 1 for me. Disc drive already enroute. Glad to see 2TB as the main drive. We have already heard from one dev that delayed their title so they could include PS5 Pro support. This will no doubt be the norm forward.

It’s worth the $350 premium price for a +60% increase. I’m buying two, to replace the two normal PS5’s I have. People are just salty that they can’t afford this. But they can afford stuff like handheld computers like the ROG Ally X, which is far less powerful and more expensive…

Damn, poor people are salty. This cost less than a ROG Ally X. How are people bitching about a $700 console that is on par with a $1300 computer?? Oh, boohoo, no disc drive comes with it. Digital makes up over half of all game sales, they are moving towards that market. Get with the times boomers. Or just buy the disc drive… People want their cake for free and a gold trophy to go with it, grow up.

Saw a post in another site and I investigated. The guy is right. Add on PS5 drives jumped into the top 10 yesterday after the announcement because plenty of us that have money are getting the Pro. Just watch it sell out 🙂 And yeah, salty people. Sony didn’t want to lose money on the R&D, engineering, fabrication, coding for new dev software, new dev kits, shipping costs, and a lot more. People expect Sony to just eat the money. Nope.
