PS5 next system update

Last year, PlayStation introduced classic PlayStation-themed UI and boot-up screens for the PS5 to celebrate the console’s 30th anniversary. While many fans praised the surprise feature, it did come with some bad news, and that’s that they would only be available for a limited time.

Despite public protests against removing them, PlayStation did so in January, though it offered some hope by confirming that it was working on a way to bring them back permanently. Well, it looks like that day is almost here, as the console maker has confirmed that they will be returning in the next major system update for the PS5.

PS Classic Themes Are Coming Back, Along With New PS5 Features

As confirmed in a post today on the PlayStation Blog, PlayStation Classic themes are ready to return, packaged under a new system feature called “appearance.” This feature will be available in the next big software release for the PS5.

But that’s not the only thing coming, as a new audio feature called “Audio Focus” is also set to arrive with the next update, allowing gamers to tweak audio based on some available presets.

  • To enable audio focus, go to [Settings] > [Sound] > [Volume] > [Audio Focus]. This feature can also be accessed from the Control Center, so you can easily adjust the settings during gameplay.
  • You can choose from four preset focus type options for which sounds to boost:
    • Boost Low Pitch:  Amplify low-frequency sounds like roaring engines and rumbling noises.
    • Boost Voices: Amplify voice chats, character voices, and other middle-frequency sounds.
    • Boost High Pitch: Amplify high-frequency sounds like footsteps and metallic noises.
    • Boost Quiet Sounds: Amplify low-volume sounds in a wide range of frequencies.
  • You can set the level of support for each preset type from three different levels (Weak, Medium, Strong).
  • Additionally, you can also choose to adjust the level of support for the preset for Left / Right channels separately to meet your specific preferences.
  • The audio focus feature is available when using headphones connected via USB or analog jack. It is not supported for HDMI connections through TV, AV receivers or soundbars.

The update will roll out in phases globally starting tomorrow, April 24.

I wish the themes showed all the time and not just if you go on the welcome hub, i usually just use a custom theme or wallpaper but the classic themes are always welcome.
