Red Dead Redemption 2 Steam Discount Sees Game Hit New Concurrent Player Record
[summaraize]
Red Dead Redemption 2 is enjoying an influx of new players, as the title has received a steep 75%-80% off on Steam, almost hitting its all-time low for pricing while hitting an all-time concurrent player count.
Despite entering its seventh year on the market, the game is still selling insanely well.
Steam Slashes 75% Off Red Dead Redemption 2, a Near Historic Low

Red Dead Redemption 2 went on sale last week on Steam, bringing the price down from $59.99 to $14.99 for the standard edition, while the Ultimate Edition saw a more significant discount of 80%, dropping from $99.99 to $19.99. It’s not a bad deal, considering it’s a game from Rockstar Games, which tends to stay at full price given its popularity.
Unsurprisingly, the sale has brought in a wave of new players, and the title broke its own concurrent player record on Steam this past week. On January 20, an estimated 86,717 players played Red Dead Redemption 2 on Steam alone. According to SteamDB, the previous record of over 77,000 was achieved back in November 2023. Since then, the title has seen an active player base normally above the 40,000 mark on average, and it finally broke its all-time record this past week.
Sure, it may not seem impressive, considering other recent games charting higher, but for a nearly seven-year-old game, that’s not bad at all.
If you haven’t taken advantage of the discounted price, you may want to do so soon, as the deal expires on February 6. If you’re hoping for the price to go lower, well, that might be a bit of a wait, considering its historical low of 1around $13 at a third-party key shop (per GGDeals) over a year ago.
