Avowed delayed

Avowed, the highly anticipated RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, according to a new report will now release in early 2025. This delay aims to avoid a crowded holiday season, which includes other big titles like STALKER 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Tom Warren of The Verge reported of this unofficial announcement. He noted that Microsoft and Obsidian are delaying Avowed to space out major releases.

I understand Avowed is in good shape, this is more a matter of wanting to give the game breathing room outside of a very busy period for Xbox Game Pass.

Despite the delay, Avowed seems to be in good shape based on what we’ve seen so far. The postponement is more about strategic timing than development issues, as Microsoft wants each game to have room to shine, rather than competing for attention. Microsoft has confirmed that we’ll see more of Avowed at gamescom 2024 happening later this alongside other titles such as Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Starfield’s upcoming DLC, Shattered Space.

In addition to Avowed, Microsoft has several other big releases lined up later this year which includes Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. This delay will help spread out the launch dates, giving each game a better chance to succeed.

Of course, same as with any unofficial announcement, take this with a grain of salt, though Warren has been very spot-on with these kind of stuff.
